1. Personal Information Protection Policy

Acknowledging the protection of personal information in today’s advanced information-communications society as a corporation’s important social responsibility, Sanyo Chemical Industries, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the “Company”) will endeavor to protect customers’ personal information concerning the Company’s website in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations and the policy for handling and protection of personal information provided below (hereinafter referred to as this “Policy”).

The Company may collect the personal information falling under the following categories for the purpose of use stated in Paragraph 3.

The Company will handle the above personal information on the basis of your consent or the Company’s legitimate interests. The Company’s legitimate interests include marketing activities in relation to the Company’s medical devices, establishment of relations with customers, and ensuring the security of the Company’s website. If you provide any health-related information, the Company may handle such information in accordance with the provisions of the relevant laws and regulations for the purpose of securing the quality and safety of medical devices.

When handling customers’ personal information, the Company will keep such information accurately and in the most up-to-date condition to the extent necessary for the purpose of use.

With respect to the following handling which possibly poses risks to customers, the Company will take proper security protection measures, and store and manage such customers’ personal information:

All personal information provided by customers are stored in the server protected by passwords and firewalls.
The Company promptly disposes of or anonymizes personal information once it fulfills the purpose of use.

5. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

If the information acquired through the “Contact us” page contains any health-related information, the Company may provide such information to regulatory agencies and certification authorities in and outside of your country of residence for the purpose of securing the quality and safety of medical devices.
Moreover, the Company may jointly use the above information as follows:

Purpose of use of joint users: Purpose stated in paragraph 3 (3) above (In order to correspond to customers’ inquiries and provide prompt services) and purpose stated in (4) of the same (for securing the quality and safety of medical devices which the Company manufactures to sell and service)

The above joint use does not mean that the Company and Terumo Europe N.V. fall under joint controllers.

In any case other than those stated above, the Company will not provide personal information to any third party unless such provision is permitted under the related laws and regulations.

6. Entrustment of Personal Information

The Company may entrust the handling of customers’ personal information to a contractor. In the case of entrusting the handling of personal information, the Company will properly manage the contractor.

7. Transfer of Personal Information to Outside of your country of residence

The Company may transfer customers’ personal information existing within your country of residence to the outside of your country of residence to outside of the EEA to the extent necessary for the purpose of its use. In the case referred to in the above, the Company will abide by requirements such as the related laws and regulations and handle the said personal information properly and strictly.

You may be entitled to exercise the following rights with respect to the personal information handled by the Company under the relevant laws and regulations:

  • Correction of personal information;
  • Deletion of personal information;

  • Notification of the handling of personal information;
  • Data portability of personal information; and
  • Objection to the processing of personal information.

9. Personal Information of Persons Under 16 Years Old

The Company does not intentionally collect information concerning customers under 16 years old. The Company will follow the procedures pursuant to the related laws and regulations as needed.
